About Music Care Club
Music Care Club is a student-led organization that brings live music into community and care settings. Our performers help create meaningful and engaging musical experiences through live performances while representing the club with professionalism, respect, and enthusiasm.
We are looking for skilled and experienced musicians who are confident performers, quick learners, and strong collaborators.
Position Overview
As a Music Care Club Performer, you will rehearse and perform alongside other musicians at club-organized events. Performers should be comfortable learning new repertoire efficiently, adapting to different musical arrangements, and working closely with other members of an ensemble.
We are especially looking for musicians who demonstrate strong sight-reading ability, musical versatility, reliability, and the ability to perform well with others.
Responsibilities
- Perform at Music Care Club events and community performances.
- Learn assigned repertoire accurately and efficiently.
- Sight-read music confidently during rehearsals when required.
- Attend scheduled rehearsals and arrive prepared.
- Communicate effectively with fellow performers and performance coordinators.
- Adapt to changes in arrangements, instrumentation, keys, or performance requirements.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude during rehearsals and performances.
- Support other musicians and contribute to a collaborative ensemble environment.
- Represent Music Care Club respectfully when interacting with community partners and audiences.
Qualifications
Strong candidates will have:
- A high level of proficiency on their primary instrument or voice.
- Strong sight-reading skills.
- The ability to learn new music quickly and independently.
- Previous performance experience, either solo or as part of an ensemble.
- Strong rhythm, timing, and musical awareness.
- The ability to follow a conductor, musical director, or ensemble leader.
- Strong listening and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively with musicians of different instruments and backgrounds.
- Reliability and good time management.
- A positive, respectful, and team-oriented attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
The following are considered assets but are not required:
- Experience performing in bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles, choirs, chamber groups, or other musical ensembles.
- Experience accompanying singers or other instrumentalists.
- Previous experience performing for community events, senior care facilities, hospitals, or similar environments.

Application Process
Applicants will be asked to provide:
- Name and contact information
- Primary instrument/voice
- Additional instruments, if applicable
- Years of musical experience
- Previous performance or ensemble experience
- Musical styles/genres they are comfortable performing
- General availability
- A brief description of their sight-reading ability
- A brief description of their experience performing with other musicians
Applicants may also be asked to provide a short performance recording or complete a brief audition so that we can better understand their musical background and determine appropriate performance opportunities.
